Rochdale Supporters FC kicked off their home
campaign with a convincing 10-0 win over Deva Chat FC at
Heywood Sports Centre. Manager Mark Woodall made just
one change to the starting line up that gained a point
at Peterborough the previous weekend. He decided to
start himself on the bench with the returning
Anthony Kaminskas, the
clubs top scorer starting instead. Rob Flitcroft
partnered him up front.
It didn't take long for Rochdale to gain command. They
had already missed several chances to open the scoring
before last seasons player of the year Kenny Hindle
scored with a bullet header from a corner. In truth with
so much action it becomes slightly difficult to remember
every piece of action and further goals were added
before half time to make the score 3-0, leaving the
manager with a nice team talk and with several options
on the bench he had scope to give everyone a run out.
Mark
Woodall, sensing an opportunity for goals replaced Rob
Flitcroft up front and right back Chris Finn gave way
for David Veevers. The goals kept on coming in the
second half with the manager having a half a yard tap in
that he exclaimed "That's how I like them!" and he added
a second with a curling right footed effort into the far
corner from the left side of the penalty area. Luke
Lloyd also got in on the scoring act as did Liam
Ratcliffe who added another 2 of his own.
The previous 2 seasons top scorer Anthony Kaminskas
broke through the now weary Chester defence to calmly
slot the ball home and he also went on to grab a brace.
Dale could have had more goals from defender Kenny
Hindle but he couldn't quite add to his earlier goal.
More substitutions were made with Sam Wilde, David Healy
(Not that one!) and Jon Hudson entering the fray and it
wasn't long before the former had rifled in a brilliant
long range right footed strike.
The
scoring wasn't over yet though and Dale were awarded a
penalty which Ryan Higginbotham smashed down the centre
of the goal.
Late on in the game Rochdale keeper Jon Coluccio had his
first real test when the referee awarded Chester a
penalty of their own. However the goalkeeper was
determined to keep his clean sheet and kept out the
penalty and the rebound after the Dale defence were slow
in reacting.
So the final score was a massive 10-0 to the home side
and it marked a brilliant start to the new season on
their home pitch. It was a performance to be proud of
and one that will hopefully be repeated in future games.
