Rochdale 3

Rochdale went into this first ever
clash with Peterborough on the back of a draw with local
rivals Bury. Rochdale took the lead through a marvellous
goal from Luke Lloyd. He picked the ball up and jinked
past the Posh defence before slamming the ball home at
the near post.
Dale were well in control but a
mistake from Coluccio in goal gifted Borough the
equaliser. Buffon kicked his clearance straight to the
Peterborough striker who made no mistake in finding the
net.
Dale went in front again from a
similar goal to their first, only this time Higginbotham
was the man to beat the defence and lash the ball home.
However Dale threw away the lead again when a cross was
dropped by Coluccio on the line and the striker had the
simple task of tapping the ball into the net.
It was 3-2 immediately from the
kick off when a speculative long effort somehow went
over everyone including the keeper and dropped into the
goal. Dale battled hard to regain an equal standing in
the scoreline but it didn't come until the last minute
when a long throw by Milnes evaded everyone apart from
defender Hindle who had been thrown up-front in search
of the equaliser. Hindle did the job and finished
nicely, this was his first goal for 2 years.
Overall a draw was probably a fair
reflection of the play but Dale will be keen to halt the
run of draws when they take on their next opponents.
