Tranmere 1
Rochdale 9 |
|
05/08/2006 |
A new season is now upon us and with manager Mark
Woodall unavailable Paul Veevers was in charge for
Rochdale’s
first game of the new IFA season.
Rochdale lined up in a pristine new kit kindly supplied by the Dale
Supporters Trust.
The new kit obviously inspired
Rochdale
as they were in control from start to finish and looked
like they would score every time they went forward. To
be fair Tranmere were short of players resulting in
perennial substitute Jon Hudson wearing the yellow of
Tranmere for the full 90 minutes in an unfamiliar
position of central midfield! Luke Evans also played the
second half for Tranmere at right back.
In the end
Rochdale comfortably won the game 9-1 with goals from
Dutton,
Kaminskas (3), Lloyd (2), P Veevers, James, Wilde. The pick of the goals was the first one which was
an excellent left footed drive in the top corner of the
net by Damien Dutton of all people. He previously hadn’t
scored for the team but opened his account in style
today.
