Rochdale
went into this IFA league game hoping to keep their
unbeaten record in the league intact. Woodall was able
to name the same starting 11 that started against
Lincoln last week.
Rochdale
started the game well, passing the ball around and
creating chances. It wasn’t long before the 1st
goal came. Good hassling by both Woodall and Kaminskas
on Tranmere’s defence led to them tackling one of the
defenders and Kaminskas slotted the ball home. 1-0.
Tranmere managed to get a bit of a foot hold in the game
creating a couple of chances. Fortunately for
Rochdale
the defence and goalkeeper held out.
The next bit of action came after good work from Luke
Lloyd and Paul Veevers. The ball was played to Kaminskas
who ran down the right and crossed for Mark Woodall to
score. 2-0.
The game became very end to end with both teams having
chances to score. The 3rd goal for
Rochdale
came with a long throw in by Milnes into the Tranmere
box and Kaminskas headed in. 3-0.
After going 3-0 down Tranmere seemed to improve and
pushed further forward managing to get a goal back
before half time. From Rochdale’s point of view it was a
silly goal to give away. 3-1.
At half time manager Woodall could only ask the players
to keep playing the way they were and that the next goal
was crucial.
In the 2nd half Tranmere looked a completely
different side, creating more chances.
Good defending managed to keep the Rochdale goal in
tact. It took Rochdale about 20 minutes into this half
to get going.
Good work from Kaminskas down the left played the ball
back to the edge of the area for Milnes to hit a
cracking drive against the cross bar.
Rochdale’s
4th goal soon followed. A good pass from
Simon Irving up to Mark Woodall who laid the ball back
to Paul Veevers. Veevers then hit a sweet drive into the
top left hand corner of the goal. 4-1.
Woodall made a few changes bringing Luke Evans onto the
right wing. He had an immediate impact. Paul Veevers
played the ball into Evan’s path and continued his run
into the box. Evan’s crossed the ball right onto the
head of Veevers who scored his second goal of the game.
5-1.
Tranmere managed to get another consolation goal towards
the end of the game. The game became very open with both
sides having more chances to score. 5-2.
Rochdale
managed to put the ball in the back of the net again.
Milnes hit a long free kick to Evan’s who crossed for
Kaminskas to score but it was disallowed due for
offside.
A good game for
Rochdale
who managed to win to keep their unbeaten league record
going. Up next week is a tough game against Bury.
